LCG User Overview

A general starting point for users of the LCG infrastructure:

What is LCG?

The LHC Computing Grid project prepares the computing infrastructure for the simulation, processing and analysis of LHC data for all four of the LHC collaborations.

How can I use it?

The LCG-2 User Guide takes you through the necessary steps for:

  1. authentication (by means of a personal digital certificate),
  2. registration,
  3. authorisation to use LCG resources (via a limited-in-time proxy) and
  4. job submission (NB! This point applies to sites using LCG-1. A similar sub-sectioning of the LCG-2 User Guide is in preparation),
explains the data management and contains sample jobs, that will help you to begin using the LCG service.

The LCG User Scenario explains step-by-step how to submit your job.

Who do I contact in case of problems?

User support is done via the experiment contacts:

All bugs, change requests, problem reports, suggested patches, etc are tracked in the Savannah problem reporting system.

Tools:

Accounting information and Monitoring maps are available from the Grid Operations Centre (GOC).
