January 2012

Scientific Staff Member in Grid-computing/Cloud-computing at the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) in Garching (Munich)

We are looking for qualified and motivated staff members to work as individual contributors and as part of a multinational team, contributing to national and European research projects (www.d-grid.dewww.cern.ch/lcgwww.prace-project.euwww.egi.euwww.ige-project.eu). Successful candidates will collaborate with the leading high performance computing centers in Europe and will work with the main developers of Globus in the USA.

The primary task to be undertaken by the successful candidate will be operation of our Grid infrastructure. The solutions which are developed and implemented by the candidate will be applied in large-scale European projects. Examples of tasks to be carried out by the candidate include:  operating Grid infrastructure,  developing Globus middleware, liaison to scientific communities (e.g., astrophysics, particle physics, geophysics, etc., depending on your scientific orientation), etc. More details can be found here: http://www.lrz.de/wir/stellen/

October 2011

Research Computing Administrator and Developer; Melbourne, Australia

An exciting opportunity is available to join the new ARC Centre of Excellence for Particle Physics at the Terascale located at the School of Physics. You will be part of the Centre's research computing team, supporting cutting edge research taking place as part of the ATLAS experiment based at CERN in Switzerland.

You will engage with the High Energy Physics distributed computing development communities; evaluating, deploying and contributing to software which enables collaborative research at a distance, and which underlies the Centre's research activities.  Remaining abreast of the developments in this middleware and aiding in its development as appropriate you will gain unique insight into the function of the grid. This will act to bolster the technical strength of the Centre's research computing team, and aid you in deploying and maintaining the Centre's grid site as part of the Centre's research computing Team.

Travel opportunities are available to national and international conferences and grid network meetings.
